Looks: Edible. Valgaav is a tall, athletic but not overmuscular hunk of gorgeous man. His stranger features, heritages of his Ancient Dragon ancestors, only add to the exotic, alluring qualities of this bishounen nibblet. His hair is a wild toss of pale green, and a single horn decorates his forehead. When his dragon side starts to take over, he grows a pair of black-feathered wings and his right arm changes shape, but even then he's delectable. Smarts: Surprisingly effective but not exactly wonderful. Valgaav's main problem (as if you couldn't guess) is that his emotions and desires completely cloud his judgement. His unresolved anger and bitterness tend to force him along one particular path of thinking and lord forbid he should stray from it, but even in the midst of dementia he was capable enough to give Filia pause in their conversation at the center of the world. Personality: Obsessed, bitter, angry, crazy. Valgaav's self-hatred has developed to straggering levels; his identity crisis and pain at being 'unclean' have turned him quite nuts. His figure is extremely tragic, and his redemption at the end of Try is nicely done, if a bit trite. Deep inside, Valgaav has had nothing to call his own but hate and sorrow for years, and if cleansed of those may actually be halfway sane and decent. The ancient dragons were known for their wisdom and piety. Cooking: ...Uh, whatever. ^_^ Not likely that Valgaav has to worry about cooking, since his Mazoku side feeds on hatred and fear, and considering his state of mind he's probably full-to-gorged 24-7. Fighting Skill: Impressive. Without his powers it's unlikely he'd stand much of a chance; in raw weapon battles against Gourry, the blonde had the upper hand. However, his arsenal of powers both Mazoku and Dragon as well as temporary ownership of the Ravodmezehis make him an extremely dangerous opponent. He is a berserker and a kamikaze and isn't afraid to do anything to win. Special Abilities: Insane. He possesses almost as much power as a Mazoku lord, as well as the legacy of his dragon forebears. He can fly, regenerate, take a Dragu Slave at close range, fire energy blasts of the greatest magnitude, and a host of other, miscellaneous abilities. For a time he held Armace's Ravdomezeghis, a spear-like version of Gourry's Hikari no Ken/Gorn Nova, which was also a powerful tool (which helped him take down Xelloss, in fact). Competition: Filia. At the end of Try, an age-regressed Valgaav is taken into Filia's care, and she swears to raise him better than the cruel world did. Good luck getting him away from her; despite her oath, there is the short issue of her own abilities as a priestess and dragon to deal with. Before his attempt at summoning Dark Star, his obsessions with destruction and 'cleansing' are your biggest competition, and my only advice is to smack him with a shovel and pray for amnesia. In-Laws: The Mazoku...sort of. Valgaav is the 'inheritor' of Chaos Dragon Gaav's powers, and as such is a sort of de-facto Mazoku lord. While he and his brethren don't exactly get along, they seriously want him on their side and are willing to go to significant extremes to do so. Expect to see a lot of them. Economics: ...Weird. People in the world domination/destruction gig generally blow their money on that cause, but it's likely that the lion's share of Grabos and Jiras' loot from looking for the Dark Star weapons went to their 'boss', Valgaav, meaning he's probably got a TON of loot stashed away somewhere. His serious-minded personality does not lend itself to impulse spending. Sex: I cringe at the thought. While I'm certain he would be into passion and probably have a sex drive rivalling the greatest of lovers...he will be into PAIN. It's all he knows and it's what's comfortable to him. Sex with Valgaav will be physically exciting but emotionally scarring. Expect surprises. Overall: Stay away. Let Filia take his baby form and keep him, because frankly you don't want him beforehand. He's too bloody dangerous. If for some reason you run into him after he's grown up in Filia's care, he might be a good catch...provided SHE didn't warp his mind any moreso than GAAV did... |
